The Assistant Lightkeeper's Cottage provides year round holiday accommodation ideal for one to three people in a double bedroom and a single bedroom (although a hideaway bed can be used to accommodate a fourth guest). Restored and renovated to a very high standard, the Cottage provides the modern facilities and comforts associated with 21st century living yet retains many original Victorian features such as high ceilings, cornice, panelled doors and working shutters.

The living room window offers extensive views over the sea to Stroma and mainland Scotland. Elegantly decorated and furnished with dining table & chairs, comfortable sofa, armchair and focal point electric fire. |
| In house entertainment is provided by way of LCD TV & Freeview, DVD & VCR, CD stereo together with a variety of board games, playing cards and reading material. A broad selection of music and films is available for guest use. |

The kitchen also has a sea view, small yet well appointed it provides convection oven, grill, slow cooker & ceramic hob, fridge with ice compartment, microwave, cafetiere, kettle, toaster and quality cookware.
Basic culinary items are provided by way of dried herbs & spices, cling film, cooking foil, kitchen paper, washing up & cleaning products.

The bathroom offers walk in shower area, low level wc, pedestal basin, shaver point (240/110) and plenty of space for personal toiletry items.
Quality towels, complimentary shower cap and toilet roll per person are supplied.
There is a laundry room on site along with indoor/outdoor drying facilites plus an iron and board in the cottage.

The spacious master bedroom is a quiet room to the rear of the property and is tastefully decorated with wardrobe, comfy armchair and 5' King size bed.

The second bedroom is also to the rear and offers a standard single bed, sitting area and portable TV/VCR and CD/Radio. Quality bed linen, pillows, hot water bottles and hairdryer are supplied.

There are several seating areas in the garden, the old Paraffin Store provides many extras to make your holiday more enjoyable such as a barbecue, cool bags and flasks.
Cantick Head's position at the end of a private, unadopted road provides an excellent walking and cycling environment, whether beachcombing for shells and driftwood or just gazing at the sea you will rarely be disturbed.
Sea angling is a common pastime from the cliffs around the Lighthouse and Trout fishing is available at Heldale Water, licenses or permits are not required.
Professional guided tours of Hoy, the Hills and 9,700 acre RSPB reserve are available on the Island along with boating, diving and fishing trips.
Two seasonal Cafes and three pubs provide snacks, lunches, afternoon teas and evening meals; Anchor Bar, Royal and Stromabank Hotels offer traditional Pub atmospheres including pool, darts and occasional live music.
The Island of Walls is well served by a licensed general store, Post Office and fuel pumps at Longhope Pier open 9-12:30 & 2-6pm Monday to Saturday, major cards accepted and cash can be withdrawn at the Post Office. JMF Groat stock a wide variety of general provisions, fresh local produce, toiletry items and a good selection of beers, wines & spirits; newspaper orders and advance shopping lists are accepted by Email or Fax 01856 701251 - please advise your name and date of arrival.
Please note that smoking in the cottage is not allowed but doing so outdoors is fine.
Pet owners are reminded that this is a fragile environment with grazing sheep, ground nesting birds and Wildlife Trust grounds nearby.
